Joy

Angels and Grace

Nov 21, 2018 by Luann Robinson Hull
Yesterday I started out having what I judged to be a ‘bad day.’ I’d had dental surgery the day before and upon arising, it felt like things were going south in my mouth. Unable to ignore the repeated throbbing in my jaw, I made an appointment with the dentist (not the surgeon who’d performed the procedure). Turns out that dentist is the sweetest (as dentists go). He poked and prodded and took pictures and finally came up with a simple solution to help ease the pain, following which things began to improve. And, he didn’t charge me a dime.

Conscious Conversations

Jul 31, 2007 by Luann Robinson Hull
We recently completed our third gathering of Conscious Conversations™ in Aspen , Colorado and I am delighted to report that the groups are sprouting in other areas and gaining momentum. What are they: Gatherings of people who meet regularly to support each other in conscious living both practically and philosophically. The Goal: to combine our strengths in achieving an optimal state of personal and collective growth.

The discussions continue to be both thought provoking and inspiring. Among some of the topics mentioned in last week’s Aspen group was a dialogue on how to really make progress with some of the sobering issues currently facing us both individually and globally. The following interpretation of Thomas Hartman's message in The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight, was discussed: “If you don’t raise consciousness by...

Heaven Here Now

Jan 23, 2007 by Luann Robinson Hull
Today, I was invited to a discussion on the topic of Heaven and found the dialogue to be thought provoking. The focus of the talk appeared to be centered on what to do here in this realm, fraught with difficulty, despair and considerable challenge, in order to get there, presumably another realm, seen as a far better and more desirable place to be. And, of course, the primary purpose in such a paradigm is to concentrate on preparing for the next stop, which can only be accessed after physical death.

While the belief that Heaven is the reward if we just keep plugging away at “being good” is encouraging, such thinking definitely takes us out of the moment. And if we...

Transforming the Habit of Fear into Genius

Nov 07, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
“Despite our overt resolve, we are still creatures of habit. Resolve is activated by self-confidence, which in turn depends on the self image we have.”—Stephen Batchelor

“As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live.” –John Wolfgang Von Goethe

“And so it goes, and so it goes, and you’re the only one who knows.”—Billy Joel

If you are a living, breathing creature reading the words on this page, you have the ability in this moment to distinguish the difference between what causes you to suffer and what brings you joy and happiness. There isn’t another human on the planet that can do it for you. No guru, teacher, workshop, or class has the answers. It is only you who knows....

The Guest House

Aug 24, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
Greetings! Welcome to The Guest House

This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes because each has been sent as a guide from beyond. —Rumi (Coleman Barks, 1995, Harper Collins, pp. 109)

Can you relate to Rumi’s words? Have you ever been able to make meaning out of a temporary “depression...

The Magic of Ho'op

Aug 10, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
Last week we began discussions regarding life/personality patterns and were given the option to ponder possibilities. What are your greatest strengths? What are your challenges? And in looking at these, can you notice any prevailing life-themes? Who are the people and what are the situations in your life that bring you joy…and how can you increase your chances of having more of those people and circumstances in your life? Are there situations or people that crop up occasionally (or frequently) that seem to cause difficulty? Can you notice any threads of similarity in these people and situations? If so, are you ready to look at what may be going on? In having the courage to do so, you position yourself...

Path To Freedom & Joy

Aug 03, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
During the next six weeks, we will be taking a look at how we can liberate ourselves from the personality patterns, which no longer serve our development and growth. It is time to claim our full and most optimal potential and let go of anything that is interrupting progress…now! Not just some, but all of our misery can be eliminated if we are just willing to take a look at what we ourselves might be able to do to adjust, alter, eliminate and expand.

Here are some questions to ponder as we explore together what we need to emphasize or adjust in order to embrace all possibilities for joy and happiness… now! Can you identify 10 strengths? Can you notice any prevailing life-themes...

Momentary Pleasure or Happiness & Inner Fulfillment

Jul 20, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
“Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of inexhaustible desires for outward things.”—Matthieu Ricard (pp. 31, Happiness, by Matthieu Ricard, 2003)

In our ever ending search to obtain happiness, the very act of striving will itself frequently take us further away from the joy and fulfillment we are so hoping to find. And often in this seeking of ours, we will come upon a “momentary pleasure” or delight, which we may mistake for our deliverance to that state of eternal bliss. Of course, it is possible that this “momentary pleasure” can extend for seconds to even days or weeks. Nonetheless, we willnot experience this event in the same way that we did the first time as time passes, no matter what the...

Quiet & Listening Leads Us To True Joy In Our Hearts

Jun 02, 2006 by Luann Robinson Hull
Happiness can only evade us if we are searching and striving for it in the wrong places. Once we are willing to dive toward the ever-open branches of our very own hearts, the singing bird will come and show us how to soar. And when we get quiet enough to listen to her sweet, melodious song, we will be effortlessly guided to all of the mysterious, exotic places that will fill our hearts with more joy than we ever thought possible.

All we have to do is to be willing to embark on the journey to Always Land. It has been there all along, inside of us...just waiting to be discovered. Dare to go there now and leave Never Land behind...forever...

Happiness and love...
