MY STORY  

Like most women, I grew up on fantasy tales and stories like Cinderella, who were saved by Prince Charming. And having exhausted a good portion of my earlier life quite a bit below neutral when it came to the happiness quotient, I always believed that the riddle of suffering would be resolved by finding and marrying the Prince. Could there be another way out of the pain that seemed to define my existence as a scrawny, scared little girl other than finding him?

I couldn’t have known how long it was going to take, or how many challenges I would endure, before I  would come to realize that he was not the answer to my salvation after all. Instead, the key to unlocking the sacred garden of my heart had always been accessible though in another form. And in order to discover the sacred secrets in my soul all I really had to do was relax and be available so I could hear their silent whisperings. The true answer, hidden under the layers of fear and doubt that had forever overshadowed the truth had always been available. It’s just that I had been looking in all of the wrong places.

What did I discover when I finally unlocked the gate to that sacred garden of mine? There inside was a fortress of passion just aching to be discovered. Uncovering that passion (and I don’t mean the day- dreaming kind about Prince Charming) is what continues to direct me to true and lasting joy. Why? Because this passion is what you and I came here to experience! Imagine Bono’s thrill (lead singer of U2) when he belts out, “In the name of love!” How gratifying must that be? You too are destined for delight, as you discover and follow your passions. It is my belief that every human being drawing breath on this planet—regardless of past mistakes and misfortunes—not only deserves to feel their version of the “Bono bliss,” but actually can, if s/he chooses. And guess who shows up to join you when you do? All of the people, places, situations, and circumstances that will most enhance this bliss of yours, while you contribute to theirs. Included among these gifts, can be a loving partner with whom to share it all, especially when you focus on what you came here to contribute, rather than grab or get (like the Prince).
